Welcome to EBO sail. EBO Adventure has a breadth of experience organising sailing programmes from beginner right up to Yacht-master. Below is an overview of the UK based courses we have on offer.

RYA CRUISING COURSES CORNWALL

 EBO organises Royal Yachting Association Cruising Courses these include Competent Crew, Weekend, Day Skipper, Coastal and Onshore DoT Exam qualifications.

START YACHTING WEEKEND COURSE

An introduction to yachting. Course runs from 4.30pm on Friday to 1pm on Sunday.

RYA COMPETENT CREW COURSE

This course is intended for the newcomer to cruising, and is run over 5 days or 3 weekends. Living on board the boat you will be taught the basics of seamanship, safety procedures, helmsmanship and all the techniques needed to be a useful crew member.

RYA DAY SKIPPER COURSE

On the Day Skipper courses, you will put into practice all the skills learned on a shorebased navigation course. The emphasis is on skippering, organising watches and navigation as well as pilotage and boat handling.

COASTAL SKIPPER PRACTICAL COURSE

The aim of this course is to have you going away capable and confident in skippering a yacht on longer offshore passages. Again, you will be able to brush up on some of the Day Skippers syllabus if needed, but this time the emphasis is on planning and then doing slightly longer and more adventurous trips.

This is the last of the RYA practical courses where a Course Completion Certificate is awarded at the end of the week. The next step, after building up a little experience on your own, is to go for the full MCA (DoT) / RYA Certificate of Competence.

COASTAL SKIPPER OR YACHTMASTER OFFSHORE PREP WITH DoT EXAM

These world wide recognised certificates are for more experienced skippers who require MCA (DoT) / RYA Certification.

For Coastal Skippers the pre-requirements are:
30 days sailing
2 days as skipper
800M
12 night hours

For Yachtmaster the pre-requirements are:
50 days sailing
5 days as skipper
2500M
5 passages over 60M including 2 overnight and 2 as skipper

The intensive preparation covers areas such as blind navigation, night pilotage, man overboard, advanced boat handling under power and sail plus heavy weather tactics. This course ends up with an RYA / DoT exam.
